This quilt was inspired by a workshop with Laura Murray. In it we learned how to use Shiva oil paint sticks and rubbing plates to create designs on fabric. The designs were then cut apart, rotated and stacked to make large blocks. For this quilt I set the blocks on point and using a buttonhole stitch, hand appliquéd them to the background fabric. I machine stitched all the raw edges down and quilted feathers between the blocks. The binding is a black Kona cotton cut on the bias, the corners were rounded to emphasize the curves in the quilting.
